PEDIATRIC & YOUTH MASSAGE THERAPY
Pediatric & Youth Massage Therapy can be booked under a regular massage therapy session.
A 45 minute session is recommended for littler bodies and a 60 minute session for bigger bodies.
*Contact us if you think a 30 minute session would be more appropriate for your young child.
*Please remember to book the appointment under your child’s name and add yours in the “guardian” section on our Intake Form.
Little people have bodies too and sometimes they don’t feel so great. Sometimes they get hurt, fracture bones or have overuse type injuries just like the rest of us. Muscle strains and ligaments sprains are not uncommon amongst our youth especially the ones involved in various sports.
Growing fast and muscles not keeping up with their skeletons, often leads to tight muscles and joint pain particularly in the knees and hips. This can be managed and pain lessened through massage therapy, education and homecare.
Although children and teens generally heal fast, depending on the injury they might not heal properly nor rehabilitate the muscle or ligament adequately to support them best later in life. When and how to stretch and strengthen is taught.
Early intervention to set them on the right path is key. Communication with parents about the nature of the injury, about strategies for healing at home, school and during their activities is important for optimal results. Communication with the youth is just as important, as it’s their body and knowing how and why to care for it establishes a healthy understanding of why they should care about their body in the future.
